TEACHING

With Volunteer Travel Projects, you can teach in Ghana and help break down the barriers of poverty and inequality through education. As a volunteer, you will help children access the education they need for a brighter future. Most schools in Ghana have insufficient resources and are often understaffed. No experience is required to sign up, and by volunteering as a teacher you will gain plenty of classroom experience while supporting local teachers at schools or kindergartens. The schools we work with have nurseries and kindergartens attached to them, which is why some of the children you can teach may be as young as 3 years old or as old as 12.

LAW AND HUMAN RIGHTS

Our Law & Human Rights voluntary programs give you the opportunity to change legislation or make a difference to other people’s lives. You can become part of a vital resource, providing legal services to businesses, community organisations or individuals. Even though Ghana is one of the most stable and well governed African country, there are a lot of issues within the country that need addressing. Some of the issues that needs to be addressed are human trafficking, child labour, domestic violence, and sub-standard prison conditions.

MEDICINE & HEALTHCARE

Our partner hospitals provide an excellent environment to gain first-hand experience of medical practices in a developing country and to gain a deeper understanding of global healthcare issues. Many Ghanaian government hospitals receive limited funding, which means they often lack the resources that are standard in most western hospitals. Our medical interns in all regions also take part in regular medical outreach work to improve access to basic healthcare. This involves providing health checks or treating children with minor wounds and illnesses in rural communities.

SPORT

The sports project in Ghana gives you the opportunity to improve your skills and pass on your passion for sport to children in the developing world. We offer projects coaching sports in schools, dedicated sports clubs and community centres. These projects offer children a chance of better future not only from playing directly but also from the skills and values learned through sport such as discipline and teamwork.

BUILDING

Our building projects is perfect for those who are interested in construction. You will support local supervisors and masons to set up basic infrastructure. Helping communities through building lays a foundation that will allow locals to continue with your efforts even after your volunteer work has ended. In Ghana, you’ll help with the construction or renovation of toilet blocks, homes and classrooms.

AGRICULTURE AND FARMING

Our agriculture and farming projects offer you the opportunity to gain an insight into one of the world’s largest and most diverse industries. Whether you are a volunteer or a career breaker with a keen interest in agricultural issues, we have a program that will suit you, your qualifications and your level of experience. Volunteers on this program will be responsible for helping to maintain all aspects of the farm including animal care, crop growing, flower production, and land management.
